About MidwestLatino

MidwestLatino was created in October 2004 with the mission of promoting multicultural understanding and supporting social, cultural and educational interests and needs of the growing Latino community in the Midwest (OH, KY, IN, MI, PA).

Our goals are:
  • to promote the richness and variety of Latino/Hispanic culture
  • to help Latinos/Hispanics to crossover to the mainstream of US Society without forcing them
    to neglect and ignore their language, culture, and heritage;
  • to support people/organizations trying to reach Latino Community in the Midwest
  • to increase awareness in our society to various cultures and multicultural issues;
  • to help enrich the experience of multi-ethnic communities;
  • to develop a community that values diversity;
  • In order to achieve these goals MidwestLatino is cooperating with various Latino/Hispanic organizations within Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania & Michigan.

    For our contributions to the Latino community in Ohio, the Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs presented us with the 2006 Nuestra Familia Award

    For "the practice of diversity and inclusion, making Cincinnati a destination of choice for people of all backgrounds", we have received Cincinnati's highest diversity award - the 2006 "Spirit of Cincinnati" Wendell P. Dabney Award for Diversity, given by the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau.

    And in 2007 we've been awarded the 2007 Community Award from The Links, Incorporated, a not-for-profit organization of more than 12,000 women of color, committed to enhancing the quality of life in our communities
