We've seen it before: the newsmedia is moving very rapidly from one headline to another - what is an important topic today, it will be forgotten tomorrow. But it's critical that we don't forget Katrina victims even if the newsmedia moved to other hot news in the world. The people who are trying to rebuild their lives after their existence has been crushed by Katrina, are still facing major struggles.
The Latin American Association (LAA) has been for years the main Latino/Hispanic organization in Dayton, uniting and bringing together Latinos/Hispanics regardless of their country of origin, helping them to adjust to life in the USA, and helping in promoting and sponsoring cultural and educational events designed to preserve and share their ethnic values, customs and traditions.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, MidwestLatino is proud to donate $750 to the The Latin American Association to support its efforts to help Latinos who moved to Dayton after Katrina destroyed their lives in New Orleans.
If you also would like to make a donation to this noble cause, please contact Dolores Quiñones, the Executive Director of LAA.
